Nintendo showcased new gameplay footage, screenshots, and details during a dedicated broadcast focusing on Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the upcoming tactical role-playing game. According to Shacknews, the title will be the first installment in the series released for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a scheduled launch date of September 17, 2026.
Dagdan Empire and the Progenitor God Sothis
The story takes place five years after the Heroic Games, as the Dagdan Empire faces its end against the revived demon god Balor. After four Heroes who played significant roles in the games vanish, the progenitor god Sothis charges the main protagonist with saving the world. Players can utilize the goddess Fortuna’s time-travelling powers to alter the fates of the four central characters.
Narrative Branches and the Heroic Games
The narrative branches based on which of the four Heroes the player chooses to follow:
- Cai: Hails from the peaceful village of Ribeira and sets out with childhood friends to win the Heroic Games and save his imprisoned father.
- Dietrich: Washes ashore following an attack by an enormous monster and enters the games to slake his thirst for battle with new allies.
- Theodora: Leads veteran retainers from the kingdom of Saramis to restore the honor of her goddess and defend her kingdom’s peace.
- Leda: Gives up a prestigious, music-blessed upbringing to seek revenge against her father’s murderer after learning the killer is competing.
Solel Grants a Single Wish to the Ultimate Winner
Players can travel through time to switch paths, with individual progress saved for each Hero to allow parallel playthroughs. The Heroic Games themselves are a series of matches held in tribute to Dagda, the Empire’s founding king, where current ruler Solel grants a single wish to the ultimate winner.
Turn-Based Matches and Quests for Townsfolk
Gameplay elements include traditional turn-based matches where players select units and position them on the field, tracking movement in blue and attack ranges in red. Dungeons feature encounters that trigger turn-based clashes allowing for allied attack combos. Additionally, players can complete quests for townsfolk before deadlines, recruit warriors by sharing meals or giving gifts, and utilize inns to rest, eat, gain experience, and gather materials automatically.
