Sussex County Leads Statewide Turnout Surge
Sussex County continues to lead the state’s early turnout numbers. A total of 38,672 early voters have already cast ballots in Sussex County, surpassing the roughly 18,000 votes cast during the 2022 mid-term election and tracking close to the 63,000 ballots cast during the 2024 Presidential and Gubernatorial election cycle.
Statewide Ballots Reach 92,300 Total Votes
Statewide, the Delaware Department of Elections reported that 92,300 total votes—including mail-in absentee ballots—had been received as of 3:13 p.m. Tuesday. That figure represents 11.3% of the state’s 809,886 registered voters. Voter registration has grown since the 2024 election, when rolls stood at 788,441.
Schedule Shifts to Reduced Daily Hours
Delaware’s early voting period is seeing strong turnout as the schedule shifts toward reduced hours starting Wednesday. Voters heading to the polls will need to adjust to the new timetable as the final stretch of the election approaches.
Early voting sites that operated from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. since last Thursday are moving to an 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. schedule. These reduced hours run from Wednesday through the final day of early voting on Sunday, November 1.
Cast Ballots Across County Sites and Meet Final Deadlines
Voters in Delaware retain the flexibility to cast ballots at any designated early voting site within their home county.
Following Sunday, Delaware voters will face a pause with no voting available on Monday, November 2. In-person voting will then resume at regular neighborhood polling sites on Tuesday, November 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots must reach election officials by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, to be counted.
By comparison, 325,632 out of 762,908 eligible voters, or 42.7%, cast ballots during the last mid-term election in 2022.
