Jeff Smith Wins Reelection to Wisconsin's 31st Senate District

A big thank you for all of you who stood with us throughout some hard times, Jeff Smith told supporters gathered at the Brewing Projekt, as reported by WQOW.

Incumbent Democratic Senator Jeff Smith has won reelection in Wisconsin’s 31st Senate District, defeating Republican challenger Michele Magadance Skinner, WEAU reported. Smith secured 58 percent of the vote in a contest where Republicans sought to flip the seat as part of an effort to retain the Senate majority.

Skinner currently serves on the Eau Claire County Board of Supervisors, representing District 11. The 31st Senate District encompasses all of Eau Claire alongside parts of Chippewa Falls and Menomonie.

Third Term in the State Legislature

This victory marks Smith’s third term as senator in the state legislature. He won his first Senate term in November 2018 after previously serving in the State Assembly from 2007 to 2011.

I feel a responsibility to continue to serve the 31st Senate District in the capacity that I have because I didn’t just get elected for one term and walk away from it, Smith stated previously, emphasizing his commitment to the district. We have a lot of work to do.
