Apple’s upcoming iPhone Duo has surfaced on Geekbench 7 powered by the 2nm A20 Pro chipset, matching the single-core and multi-core performance of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup ahead of its October 23 general release and October 16 pre-order window.

Apple’s first folding smartphone, the iPhone Duo, has appeared on Geekbench 7 under the model identifier iPhone 19,4, revealing benchmark scores that closely track the company’s non-folding flagship devices. Running iOS 27.1, the device recorded a single-core score of 3,986 and a multi-core score of 11,067. Those figures place the folding phone near the median performance of the 2nm A20 Pro processor found in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

While individual benchmark runs can fluctuate and the single-core result sits just below the 4,000-point threshold reached by select candybar sibling runs, the raw processing numbers confirm that the foldable avoids the steep performance compromises that have historically affected dual-screen devices. BigGo Finance notes that the hardware configuration establishes the iPhone Duo as the most powerful folding handset benchmarked to date, surpassing the Xiaomi 18 Fold and its in-house Xring O3 silicon.

A20 Pro Architecture and Thermal Management Across Two Screens

Beneath the folding form factor lies a six-core CPU featuring a peak clock speed of 4.93GHz, split into two Cluster 1 cores and four Cluster 2 cores, paired with 11.30GB of memory that points to a marketed 12GB RAM specification. The listing did not include a graphics test, leaving GPU performance unmeasured by the benchmark.

Hardware differences remain between the folding chassis and standard Pro models, particularly in how heat and power are managed across dual displays. Engineering Dan Murray explained in an earlier conversation that the silicon incorporates a second display engine to run the inner and outer screens simultaneously while supporting an under-display FaceTime camera. To handle thermal dissipation through the folding hinge, Apple integrated a flexible graphite heat pipe connecting both halves, alongside a vapour chamber utilizing a metal over foam material designed to maintain a continuous thermal connection during mechanical movement.

Apple Increases Production Orders Amid Low Manufacturing Yields

Market demand and manufacturing realities present a complex picture as commercial releases approach. According to supply chain reporting cited by Securities Times, Apple has increased production orders for the iPhone Duo by 30 percent, pushing total expected supply for the remainder of 2026 above an earlier range of 6 million to 7 million units while still landing under 10 million.

That increased momentum coincides with manufacturing friction. Foxconn assembly yields for the folding device reached only slightly above 60 percent as of September 17 under strict internal quality thresholds, pointing to limited initial output. Concurrently, Apple adjusted internal Pro allocations, lifting iPhone 18 Pro Max orders by 10 to 15 percent while trimming standard iPhone 18 Pro production by a matching margin.

Pre-Orders Open Globally Ahead of Retail Availability

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo open tomorrow, October 16, across India and global markets. General retail availability is scheduled to follow on October 23, giving consumers their first retail opportunity to evaluate the matte nano-texture display designed to reduce glare and minimize crease visibility over time.
