Chip Ganassi Racing overhauls support staff around Alex Palou for 2027

INDYCAR.com reported that Chip Ganassi Racing faces a massive personnel reshuffle ahead of the 2027 season, headlined by the retirement of Julian Robertson, who engineered all five of Alex Palou’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES championships. Robertson has been an integral part of the organization since 1993.

Palou will enter the upcoming season without several other key personnel, and he will share technical information with Christian Lundgaard instead of Scott Dixon. Despite the massive turnover within the No. 10 car’s supporting cast, strategist Barry Wanser remains on the pit stand, providing a vital continuity anchor for the multi-time champion.

Rival Stability at Team Penske and Andretti Global

While Ganassi undergoes a reshuffle, their primary championship rivals are choosing total stability. Eric Smith noted on INDYCAR.com that both Team Penske and Andretti Global are running it back in 2027 by bringing back each of their driver trios and keeping their pit stands status quo.

Dreyer & Reinbold Returns Full-Time With Conor Daly

Arni Sribhen reported on INDYCAR.com that Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is making a full-time return to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in 2027, purchasing its charter from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and starting from scratch. Conor Daly will pilot the entry, operating through a relationship with RLL as a Honda team.

IR-28 Chassis Testing Progresses Toward 2028 Debut

Paul Kelly reported on INDYCAR.com that the new IR-28 chassis has completed rigorous initial testing cycles driven by Alex Palou and Alexander Rossi. The evaluation took place across contrasting environments, spanning the smooth asphalt of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval and the bumps of the Sebring International Raceway short road course.

Both drivers completed ample laps with few to no problems. Development testing continues through 2027 before the entire field adopts the IR-28 ahead of its competitive racing debut in 2028, alongside the return of INDYCAR SERIES racing to Europe with the Barcelona event in July 2027.
