Celebrity entertainment blogger Perez Hilton was transported to a Miami-area hospital this week to receive medical attention after law enforcement responded to his home on Tuesday night, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. The emergency response was initiated following multiple calls from viewers reporting that an individual was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.
Perez Hilton Hospitalized Following Emergency Response
The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, according to ibtimes.co.uk. The livestream, which appeared on TikTok, showed Hilton using a knife while naked and covered in blood, according to reports from AOL and nbcmiami.com. Viewers who watched the broadcast pleaded with him and attempted to obtain his phone number in order to contact authorities before the platform removed the footage.
Law Enforcement Response and De-Escalation Tactics
Deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located in a Westchester neighborhood. Initially, law enforcement statements did not identify the 48-year-old blogger by name, adhering to standard practices regarding ongoing mental health responses for public figures. On Wednesday, officials confirmed the individual transported was Mario Lavandeira, professionally known as Perez Hilton.

During the response, deputies spoke with family members on the scene. According to the sheriff’s office, only one person was inside the home at the time. Authorities employed specialized crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, tactically disengaging at points while continuing to monitor the situation.
In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,
the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office stated, noting that this approach minimizes the risk of injury and reduces the likelihood of an adverse encounter.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue safely recovered the individual and transported him to the hospital for medical evaluation and attention. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals were also deployed to the scene to provide support and resources to the family.
Representatives and Platform Response
TikTok removed the livestreamed video shortly after the broadcast, and the platform has since suspended Hilton’s account.

Golden Artists Entertainment released statements addressing the crisis. Dante Rusciolelli, CEO of Golden Artists Entertainment, shared an updated statement on Wednesday afternoon regarding the situation:
At this time, we do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition. Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery, and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time. We are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from fans, friends, and members of the media. We respectfully ask that everyone continue to honor his privacy while he receives the care he needs,
Rusciolelli said, as reported by nbcmiami.com.
Prior to the incident, Hilton had publicly discussed undergoing a profound spiritual transformation following a severe health scare that involved spending nearly a month hospitalized with sepsis.
