Ebony and Ivory Productions, a Las Vegas wedding planning firm, announced on Tuesday that it is closing effective immediately, leaving vendors unpaid and couples without wedding plans. In a statement, the company attributed the sudden cease of operations to “severe and unforeseen financial hardship.”
Vendor and Client Losses
The closure has sparked frustration on social media from clients and vendors concerned about missing services and unrecovered funds. Photographer Daniel Laboy, who worked with the company for about a year, stated that Ebony and Ivory Productions owes him more than $3,000 across 29 different shoots and weddings.
Laboy reported that while owners Tiffany and Alan Fleming were “super nice and super lovely people” in person, he frequently encountered “red flags” regarding payment. He noted that whenever he sought payment for completed work, he was given various excuses, such as the company working on the “backend” or dealing with financial issues.
For couples, the impact includes the potential need to restart the entire planning process. Laboy noted accounts of clients who had paid the company in full months before their weddings, only to discover the business had shut down.
Observers Scrutinize History of Company Owners
While the company's official notice states it is "presently unable to issue payments or provide a guaranteed repayment timeline," some observers are scrutinizing the owners' history. Laboy mentioned Facebook posts alleging that the owners may have operated under other business names in the past, with some users referencing a business called “The Counterfeit Wedding,” though these claims have not been independently verified.
Efforts to Recover Assets
In response to the closure, Laboy posted on Facebook offering to provide raw files to couples if he had served as their photographer, stating, “If they’re not going to deliver, I’m going to give you your stuff.”
Laboy expressed that his primary concern is for the couples involved, adding, “The only people that owe me money is the company.”
