Syracuse Routs Central Connecticut State 102-49 Behind Dominant Shooting Performance
Syracuse rolled to a 102-49 victory over Central Connecticut State at the JMA Wireless Dome, putting together an offensive and defensive clinic that left little room for doubt early on. Gavin Doty led the charge with a season-best 18 points, while Mark Morano added 16 to power an Orange squad that shot a blistering 64 percent from the floor.
The win moves Syracuse to 2-0 on the young season under head coach Gerry McNamara, following a 74-58 victory over New Haven in the opener. Thursday night’s contest quickly turned into a runaway after a competitive opening stretch. Syracuse used a 12-0 surge midway through the first half to crack open a double-digit advantage, carrying a 47-23 lead into the locker room. The Orange did not let their advantage fall below 15 points at any point after taking control in the opening ten minutes.
Orange Hit Century Mark in Dominant Victory over Opponents
The Orange reached the century mark for the first time since scoring 102 against UAlbany on December 10, 2024. The 53-point margin of victory stands as Syracuse's second-largest since a 57-point win over Colgate back on December 11, 2010. Ten different players broke into the scoring column for the victors.
Doty and Morano combined for seven of Syracuse’s nine three-pointers on the night. Doty shot 7-for-9 overall, including a 3-for-5 mark from beyond the arc. Morano chipped in four triples of his own, finishing 6-for-12 from the field. Luke Wilson and Kiyan Anthony contributed 14 points apiece, with Wilson converting five of six shot attempts and Anthony pulling down a career-high four rebounds.

On the glass, Sadiq White Jr. matched his career high with 10 rebounds while adding eight points, marking the first time in his college career that he reached double figures in rebounds in consecutive games. Ryan Moesch paced the Orange in the distribution department, dishing out a team-high seven assists. Central Connecticut State, dropping to 0-2, struggled to find offensive rhythm against a suffocating Syracuse defense that limited the Blue Devils to 34 percent shooting on 18-of-53 attempts. Raphel Laurent provided the bulk of the offense for the visitors, scoring 17 points.
Looking Ahead to Indianapolis
With two home wins secured, the Orange turn their attention toward a high-profile matchup against Indiana. Syracuse faces the Hoosiers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Monday, November 9, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on FS1 as part of the Bad Boy Mowers Series. Meanwhile, Central Connecticut State will look to bounce back when they travel to face Dartmouth on Sunday.
