TRICON Garage is shaking up the pit box for Tanner Gray this weekend at Phoenix Raceway, handing shot-calling duties to Jacob Hampton while veteran crew chief Jeff Hensley recovers from a severe health battle according to Jayski. Hensley, who has led the No. 15 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro team since the beginning of 2024, will miss the trip to Avondale, Arizona.
Transition to Rehabilitation Following Sepsis Battle
Jeff Hensley’s wife, Lynn Ramsey Hensley, shared an update on the veteran crew chief’s health status after he spent 16 days in the hospital fighting sepsis. Following the Charlotte race, where Hensley called the event, he fought for his life in the hospital. He has now been released and transferred to a rehabilitation facility to rebuild his strength. Although sepsis took an incredible toll on his body, Hensley is expected to make a full recovery as reported by Mysportstab.
Jacob Hampton Steps In at Phoenix Raceway
In Hensley’s absence, long-time TRICON Garage employee Jacob Hampton will step onto the pit box to call the shots for Tanner Gray’s No. 15 team. Hampton brings 36 races of experience as a crew chief in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. His prior experience includes working with Taylor Gray in the second half of the 2023 season before taking on a full-time crew chief role for the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in 2025.

Family Expresses Gratitude for Support
Lynn Ramsey Hensley expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of support, mentioning calls, texts, visits, and prayers from friends and the TRICON Garage family. She also noted information regarding a GoFundMe campaign set up to assist during the recovery process. While a road lies ahead to regain full strength, the family is celebrating every step of progress toward getting Hensley back to the track.
