TellingPointy — News That Matters, Explained Clearly

Pre-registration runs from November 2, 2026, to January 8, 2027, for the 2027 OTA Winter Conference and Trade Show, bringing local leaders to the Greater Columbus Convention Center from February 10 to 12, 2027.

Township Officials Register for Three-Day Educational Programming

Running through January 8, 2027, the pre-registration window invites township officials and employees from across the state to secure their spots for three days of programming. The gathering features more than 60 educational workshops alongside one of the Midwest’s largest trade shows for local governments.

State compliance requirements anchor part of the late-week schedule. Under R.C. §507.12, fiscal officers are obligated to finish a pair of ethics training hours in each term as a portion of their continuing education mandates. To help officials meet this requirement, the Ohio Ethics Commission will offer an ethics training session on Friday, February 12. Space is limited.

Training credits extend beyond ethics compliance. To provide accredited instruction, the OTA collaborates alongside the Treasurer of State’s office for Certified Public Investment Management (CPIM) class approval and with the Auditor of State’s office to certify courses satisfying Fiscal Integrity Act (FIA) standards. Additional details will be announced as they become available.

General Sessions and Special Events

OTA President Ron Miller and Executive Director Kyle A. Brooks will lead the general session, delivering updates on the Association’s progress, future, and state policy. Following the updates, former NFL running back and Ohio State Buckeye Raymont Harris takes the stage for the keynote, Control the Controllables, an inspiring presentation on leadership, resilience, and managing challenges with confidence.

Networking opportunities span multiple events, including the return of Casino Night and the Legislative Reception. First-time attendees can participate in a Newbie Orientation to learn how to find their way around the event, discover OTA membership benefits, and meet OTA staff and board members. Meanwhile, CTA officers are encouraged to participate in the County Officers Meeting during the conference.

Executive Director Kyle A. Brooks hosts Coffee with Kyle on Friday morning for an opportunity to connect. For spouses and guests accompanying attendees, a $30 registration fee per person covers access to conference workshops and the trade show, with optional event tickets available separately.

Trade Show Features Returning Pass Option and Conference App

The event trade show features a returning one-day pass option for Affiliates, Associates, and non-members. Attendees can manage their daily itineraries using the official conference app, which houses the daily schedule, workshop handouts, Trade Show map, and interactive vendor list.

Participants traveling to Columbus can check eligibility for lodging tax exemptions through the City of Columbus Tax Exemption Certificate for accommodations within the City of Columbus and Franklin County. Beyond professional development, the association is continuing its charity effort with a conference food drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the registration area, either individually, as a township, or collected at their CTA meeting, to support Ohioans in need.
