An LAPD officer responding to an emergency backup call struck and killed a 32-year-old woman in Valley Glen early Sunday morning, abc7.com reported.
The collision occurred on Woodman Avenue between Bessemer and Erwin streets while the officer was en route with lights and sirens activated. Police were heading toward a chaotic Halloween house party on Weddington Street in Sherman Oaks, where officers had received a “shots fired” call just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Emergency Response Ends in Fatality on Woodman Avenue
Authorities found a crowd of approximately 300 people gathered for the party when they arrived at the Sherman Oaks location. The responding patrol vehicle, driving through the neighborhood streets during the deployment, struck the pedestrian.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles Police Department has not yet released her identity.
A neighborhood resident who heard the impact recounted the immediate aftermath to abc7.com. “I see one cop car in the middle of the street, sideways, then I see a cop a couple feet from the curb looking into the street. And I look into the street and you could see the body in the middle of the street on the floor,” the witness said.

Police Clear Weddington Street Gathering Without Reported Injuries
The large gathering on Weddington Street was eventually cleared by law enforcement. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported at the party itself, though it remains unclear whether a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Additional details regarding the crash investigation have not yet been made available by the LAPD.
