Potters Gather for Holiday Ceramic Workshop

Potters of all experience levels are preparing for a hands-on seasonal series as the upcoming holiday ceramics program launches. The two-week workshop, titled “A Clayful Thanksgiving,” offers participants the chance to craft custom tableware and decorative items ahead of the November holiday.

Led by Marie Fraher, the sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The program runs across two dates, November 4 and November 18, with no class scheduled for November 11.

The curriculum accommodates everyone from beginners working with clay for the first time to experienced ceramicists looking to build specific pieces for holiday gatherings. The studio environment provides a space for community members to design handmade additions for autumn tablescapes and home decor.

Order Required Clay Through the Program Coordinator

Participants must secure specific supplies before the first session. Clay tool kits are available for purchase online or in-store through major retailers including Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon.

However, organizers note that these standard retailers do not carry the specific Cone 06 clay required for the kilns. Attendees who do not already have the necessary material can order a bag through the program for $26, with delivery scheduled for the first day of the workshop.

To secure a bag, registrants must email the Art Program Coordinator to trigger the supplier order. Payment can be completed online via credit card using the provided payment link, with receipts forwarded to the coordinator. Alternatively, attendees may bring cash or a check on the first day of class, provided they notify the coordinator in advance.

There is a strict timeline for material requests. Clay orders must be placed at least one week prior to the start of the workshop. Orders submitted after this deadline may not arrive in time for the opening session.
