Matthew Cole Matt Hwang Dies at Age 22 in Oklahoma City

Matthew Cole “Matt” Hwang, an Oklahoma City resident known for his sharp wit, computer savvy, and deep ties to his family, passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 22, Legacy.com reported. He leaves behind a large, close-knit family and a community that remembers him as an honest, straightforward guide and an amazing big brother.

Born in Norman, Oklahoma, on September 19, 2004, to Jack “Tyler” Hwang and Megan Dawn (Easley) Henry, Matt grew up with a distinct passion for technology and personal expression. He graduated from Epic Charter Schools in 2023 and attended Covenant Fellowship Church in Oklahoma City. Friends and family knew him as an avid gamer who built his own computers, enjoyed anime, followed UFC fights, and kept up with basketball and Game of Thrones.

Beyond his technical skills, Matt had a memorable personal style. He appreciated good shoes, bold jewelry, and loud rap and hip-hop music. He also shared a strong bond with his family’s dogs, Thor and Malachi, and frequently gathered with loved ones for dinner at Chelino’s, favoring pizza and fish sticks with ketchup.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Covenant Fellowship Church, located at 8017 S. Santa Fe Avenue in Oklahoma City. Arrangements are provided by the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore, Oklahoma.
