One Million Vehicles Built in Huntsville
Mazda Toyota Manufacturing rolled its one millionth vehicle off the line on October 28, 2026, hitting a major production milestone at its $2.3 billion North Alabama facility. The milestone vehicle was celebrated alongside the plant’s dedicated workforce and regional partners.
The joint venture between Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation marked the occasion with a community event in Huntsville, Alabama, commemorating the output of two popular crossovers assembled at the site: the Mazda CX-50 and the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Team Members Celebrate One Million Vehicles Built
Behind the rolling tally of one million units stand 4,500 team members who helped build the plant from the ground up. Erik Skaggs, Senior Vice President for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, pointed to that collective effort during the milestone event.
“Reaching one million vehicles is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to the dedication, skill and teamwork demonstrated by our team members every day,” said Erik Skaggs. “From the day we broke ground, our team has worked tirelessly to build not only world-class vehicles, but also a culture rooted in collaboration and teamwork.”
To honor the regional entities that aided in training and workforce development from the project’s inception to the present day, MTM announced $120,000 in grant funding. The organizations receiving grants include Calhoun Community College, Kids to Love, Morgan County Schools, and the Alabama Automotive Manufacturer’s Association (referenced as the Alabama Automotive Manufacturer’s Association in other coverage).
An Invaluable Part of the Regional Economy
The plant produces both gas-powered and hybrid configurations, including the Toyota Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross HEV, as well as the Mazda CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid.
