Northwest Nazarene closed out its fall men’s golf schedule with a tie for ninth at the Punahele Jerky Company Invitational on Tuesday in Hawaii, climbing the leaderboard during the final round, nnusports.com reported. Playing at the Mauna Lani Resort Golf course on the Kohala Coast, the Nighthawks finished the three-round tournament in a tie for ninth place in a 13-team field at 8-over-par 872.

Climbing the Leaderboard in Hawaii

The Nighthawks steadily found their footing as the tournament progressed. After opening play with a 293 and following it with a 292, Northwest Nazarene saved its best golf for the final 18 holes, carding a 1-under-par 287 on Tuesday.

At the top of the team standings, No. 18 Cal State San Bernardino captured the tournament title at 24-under-par. They finished nine strokes ahead of host Hawaii Hilo, which took second at 15-under. Menlo claimed third place at 12-under, while Simon Fraser rounded out the top four at 6-under.

Individual Highlights and Consistency

Individually, JJ Brigowatz led the charge for the Nighthawks. Brigowatz finished in a tie for 20th at even-par 216, showing sharp improvement across each round with scores of 75, 72, and a closing 3-under 69—the lowest individual round of the event for NNU.

Behind him, Ben Barrett and Kasey Gaff both finished tied for 33rd at 3-over 219. Gaff provided an early spark on Monday morning with a 2-under 70, following up with rounds of 76 and 73. Barrett, meanwhile, displayed remarkable consistency by carding identical 73s across all three rounds. Rounding out the top four scorers for the Nighthawks, Dylan Christensen tied for 37th at 4-over 220, bouncing back from an opening 77 with a 1-under 71 and an even-par 72. Gage Slaughter completed the team’s lineup, tying for 55th at 12-over 228 with rounds of 75, 78, and 75.

With the fall schedule officially wrapped up, the Nighthawks carry the momentum of a solid under-par closing round into the offseason.
