The Oklahoma City Thunder enter their fifth game of the season against the Dallas Mavericks facing a mounting injury crisis, with seven players listed on their injury report as they prepare to tip off at 8:30 p.m. CT in Dallas, TX, Sports Illustrated reported.
Days before the Thunder finished their third game of the season, both Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace suffered what are likely to be season-ending injuries. Williams sustained a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle, while Wallace suffered a labrum tear, with both requiring surgery. The team’s injury luck continued to worsen ahead of the matchup in Dallas.
The Thunder Injury Report
The Oklahoma City injury list includes seven players, with six ruled out and one listed as questionable. Alex Caruso is out with a right ankle sprain after exiting the recent game against the Phoenix Suns early. Chet Holmgren will miss his second game due to right knee patellar tendinitis. Nikola Topic remains out following low back surgery, and Thomas Sorber is sidelined due to right knee surgery, with both players having missed time since the preseason. Jalen Williams is out with a left ankle fracture, and Cason Wallace is out with a left shoulder labral tear.
Third-year guard Ajay Mitchell is listed as questionable with a right ankle sprain. Mitchell recently recorded a career-high 30 points against the Suns before tweaking his ankle in the second half, making his potential availability critical for an Oklahoma City squad already missing several major scorers.
The Dallas Mavericks Injury Report
The Mavericks face a similarly lengthy injury report featuring seven players. Kyrie Irving is questionable due to left knee injury management, while Naji Marshall is questionable with an illness, and Caleb Martin is questionable with a right thumb sprain. Santi Aldama is doubtful following right knee surgery, and Tarik Biberovic is doubtful with right heel bursitis. Sergio de Larrea is out with a right knee sprain, and Dereck Lively II is out following right foot surgery.
