Whataburger Coming to Victory Village Shopping Center in Lexington

Whataburger is expanding its footprint in Lexington County, securing a spot as an outparcel at the incoming Victory Village shopping center along the Augusta Highway, according to a report by The State.

The national burger chain purchased an outparcel at the development site in late August through its real estate arm, WB Real Estate LLC, public property records show. Commercial real estate firm NAI Columbia, which is marketing the project, features Whataburger prominently in its site diagrams for the multi-tenant retail hub situated just west of Lexington High School.

Retail Anchors Drive Construction on Augusta Highway

Announced initially in 2025, the Victory Village project has moved quickly from blueprint to heavy machinery. Construction on the shopping center’s primary anchors—a Target store and an Academy Sports + Outdoors location—is well underway, with active building work visible on site.

Whataburger will not be the only national brand setting up shop near the high school. Site diagrams and public real estate listings indicate that Chipotle Mexican Grill, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Dutch Bros Coffee are all slated for outparcels and corner spots within the development.

Growing Midlands Footprint

The coming Lexington restaurant adds to an already network of Whataburger locations across the Midlands region of South Carolina. Diners currently frequent existing area restaurants on Devine Street in Columbia, in Irmo, on Bridgeberry Lane in northeast Columbia, on South Lake Drive in Lexington, and on Platt Springs Road near Red Bank.

Construction timelines for the individual outparcels have not yet been finalized by developers, though major anchor work continues to progress on the Augusta Highway acreage.
