Woman Injured and Guns Found in Albany Apartment Complex Shooting

A 27-year-old woman is recovering from a gunshot wound and investigators have recovered three loaded firearms following a late-night shooting at an apartment complex in Albany, Georgia. According to an Albany Police Department report detailed by WALB, officers responded to the violence early Sunday morning just blocks away from a local elementary school.

Shots Fired Near Swift Court Apartments

The incident erupted just after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, along the 1000 block of Swift Court. Officers arriving at the Albany apartment complex found a chaotic scene. A large accumulation of shell casings littered the ground, and multiple vehicles in the parking lot sustained bullet damage across two separate apartment homes.

While patrol units were processing the immediate area, local dispatchers relayed that a victim had checked into Phoebe Putney Memorial. The 27-year-old woman arrived with a gunshot wound.

Guns Hidden in a Refrigerator

Police officers tried to interview two other women remaining at the apartment complex, but both individuals declined to provide a statement.

During a subsequent sweep of the grounds, officers discovered three loaded firearms stashed inside a refrigerator located outside one of the residences. Investigators noted in the official report that one of the recovered weapons was wrapped distinctly in a red bandana. The Albany Police Department is treating the case as an aggravated assault.

Authorities have not yet released information regarding potential suspects or a motive behind the gunfire, which occurred just a short distance from Robert H. Harvey Elementary School. The investigation remains ongoing as local law enforcement processes the recovered evidence.
