Chelsea secured Cole Palmer’s future on Saturday by extending the attacking midfielder’s contract through the summer of 2034. The agreement adds 12 months to his prior deal, rewarding the 24-year-old with improved financial terms following a prolific start in west London.
The announcement ends speculation surrounding Palmer’s future after the club shared a celebratory image on social media featuring the player alongside the year 2034. According to The Athletic, Palmer’s previous arrangement already ran for seven seasons, but club leadership opted to layer on an extra year while boosting his salary to reflect his status in the squad.
The long-term commitment fits a broader institutional pattern at Stamford Bridge. Over the course of 2026, the hierarchy has steadily tied down its cornerstone talents to extended agreements, including captain Reece James, midfielder Moisés Caicedo, forward João Pedro, and winger Pedro Neto.
Cole Palmer Signs New Terms with Chelsea
Palmer arrived from Manchester City in August 2023 and quickly emerged as an indispensable figure in attack. Across 138 appearances in all competitions, he has contributed to 91 goals, netting 58 himself while providing 34 assists.

Explaining his decision to sign the new terms, the England international credited the club’s leadership structure and coaching staff for instilling profound belief in his role.
Chelsea means a lot to me, and I think the club is moving in the right direction, so I am extremely happy to sign, and definitely beyond happy,
Cole Palmer said via official club channels.
He expanded on those discussions highlighting the collective alignment throughout the dressing room.
“After talking with the owners and sporting directors, and of course the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence, so it was only natural to sign the contract. And speaking with the players too, I find that everyone shares the same ambitions. I feel that we constantly win major trophies here, and I want to be part of this success and contribute to it significantly,” Cole Palmer said via official club channels.
Trophy Pedigree and Individual Accolades Underpin the Extension
The forward’s resume in blue features major continental and global silverware. He played a central role in capturing the UEFA Conference League—including two assists in the final against Real Betis—and later secured the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer of 2025 by scoring twice and setting up João Pedro in a victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
That team success matches a string of personal milestones. In his debut 2023–24 campaign, Palmer notched 25 goals and 19 assists, sweeping the club’s Player of the Year awards voted on by both supporters and peers. External recognition followed as he collected the Premier League Young Player of the Season honor alongside the PFA Young Player of the Year prize.

On the international stage, Palmer carved his name into English football history at Euro 2024 by scoring against Spain in the final, making him only the second Englishman to net in a European Championship title match.
Current Form Under Xabi Alonso Sets the Stage for Bournemouth Visit
Following a managerial transition that saw Xabi Alonso take over at the start of the season—succeeding Liam Rosenior—Palmer has maintained sharp offensive output. He has registered four goals and two assists across his first seven appearances in all competitions.
Though recent national team selection under Thomas Tuchel saw him withdraw to manage physical workloads, the playmaker enters Saturday ready to face AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea looks to climb from its current tenth position in the Premier League table.
