Former Modern Sport defender Saad Samir has officially petitioned the Egyptian Football Association to block the club from registering new players until it settles more than two years of unpaid financial dues, following favorable rulings from player affairs and grievance committees.
A Two-Year Wait for Unpaid Dues
The financial dispute centers on compensation owed from a two-year stint with Modern Sport that spanned the summer of 2021 to the summer of 2023. Even though the player’s contract concluded more than 24 months ago, the agreed financial obligations remain unfulfilled by club management.
Seeking formal resolution, the 37-year-old athlete brought his case before the Egyptian football administration’s internal judicial bodies. Both the Player Affairs Committee and the Grievance Committee ruled in his favor, affirming his entitlement to the delayed payments.
The Appeal to the Egyptian Football Association
With internal sports judiciary channels exhausted and no disbursements forthcoming from the club, the defender escalated the matter directly to the national governing body. He formally requested that the association freeze Modern Sport’s player registration.

Despite official rulings handed down by the player affairs and grievance panels, the club has failed to disburse the amounts owed to the veteran player.

Following his departure from Modern Sport in 2023, Samir continued his career with Ceramica. During his time there, he won the Egypt Capital Cup before eventually bringing his playing career to a close.
Upon hanging up his boots, Ceramica appointed him as director of football, pivoting his experience on the pitch into an administrative role where he now monitors club operations and player relations from the executive side of the game.
