On Wednesday in San Francisco, artificial intelligence giant Anthropic briefed prospective investors, revealing a third-quarter revenue surge to $16.8 billion as the company prepares for an initial public offering expected before the end of the year.
The financial figures, disclosed during a private meeting at the company headquarters, show a 45% jump in revenue compared to the previous three-month period. Anthropic generated $4.7 billion in the first quarter of the year. Then it climbed to $11.6 billion in the second quarter.
Anthropic Reports Strong Margins Before Public Listing
People familiar with the matter reported that the company achieved positive free cash flow alongside an adjusted gross margin of 85%. Anthropic reportedly said it turned a profit for the second quarter in a row and remained cash-flow positive.

According to figures cited from the Financial Times, the Claude developer generated $1.70 in revenue for every dollar spent on computing power during the third quarter. Wall Street Journal reports indicate that some investors anticipate the firm could reach $110 billion in annualized revenue by the end of the year.
Chip Stocks Fall During Market Anxiety
Some investors and analysts suggest that Anthropic’s third-quarter results may aid the case for its upcoming initial public offering. They are unlikely to fully dispel doubts surrounding the global AI trade.
Singapore Office Opens As OpenAI Defers Listing
The company marked its ongoing expansion by opening a new office in Singapore on Wednesday. Meanwhile, rival developer OpenAI has taken a different timeline approach. Chief Executive Sam Altman announced in September that his company will not pursue a public offering this year, choosing instead to address ongoing safety concerns as it eyes a potential valuation exceeding $1 trillion.
Chief Executive Dario Amodei has previously called for a slower pace of development to manage potential safety risks, paralleling the regulatory and operational hurdles facing the artificial intelligence sector.
