Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is expanding its roster with the Umbra Witch.

Along with the reveal came a fresh preview video that also previewed upcoming paid add-on bundles and a dedicated Year Two presentation event. During Season One, the Season Pass and Digital Deluxe Edition introduced CrossOver racers from other games and shows featuring the Minecraft Pack, SpongeBob SquarePants Pack, PAC-MAN Pack, Mega Man Pack, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pack, and Avatar Legends Pack. Free updates introduced other popular guest racers, including Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5 Royal, Ichiban Kasuga, Goro Majima as Captain Majima, Red from Angry Birds, and Arle from Puyo Puyo. Now, Season Two is revving its engine to further expand the roster, with players able to pick up Season Pass Two for 6 brand-new CrossOver DLC packs.

The Sonic series has a lot of standalone games, but while they tend to generate a lot of excitement immediately after release, after a few months, everyone finishes them and stops playing. However, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is an online title, and we wanted people to keep playing it for a long time.

Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Team head

Iizuka pointed out that the development crew prioritized fans first and revenue second, a strategy he now concedes might not have been the optimal path forward. While that initial plan successfully fostered a long-running online experience, development budgets are not unlimited, and securing additional development funding eventually required charging for additional content through a Season Pass.

Godzilla, Evangelion, and Avatar Legends Expand the Roster

Season Two brings an extensive lineup of downloadable content. The same footage provided enthusiasts another glimpse of the Godzilla and Evangelion bundles, both of which deliver fresh racers alongside the anticipated cosmetic items, injecting massive mechanical power straight into the racing circuit.
