Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested 27 people and seized illicit drugs, cash, and firearms during a coordinated multi-agency raid on Sunday. The operation targeted entrenched drug dens inside the Kampung Bahari slum area of North Jakarta.
Multi-Agency Force Swarms Railway Stalls
The operation struck illegal stalls built directly along a railway track where narcotics were openly traded. Jakarta Police’s Drug Crimes Investigation Chief Senior Commissioner Bismo Teguh Prakoso stated that the raid used a simultaneous, multi-pronged approach.
Authorities collaborated across jurisdictions. The National Narcotics Agency, the Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency, and the Mobile Brigade joined forces to surround and penetrate the dense settlement.
Officers Arrest Twenty Seven Suspects During Phased Raid
The raid unfolded in phases as joint teams pushed through the neighborhood. Officers initially arrested four individuals—comprising one suspected dealer and three drug users—before scaling up the operation to net a total of 27 suspects. Prakoso noted that during this initial phase, one individual possessed psychotropic substances during his arrest.
Some individuals attempted to resist arrest as officers advanced. Prakoso also noted that the operation went smoothly as planned despite this pushback. The resistance is their way to divert our attention from our main target area,
Prakoso said. We are undeterred as we continue our way to the target area.

Meth, Ecstasy, and Firearms Seized
During the searches, law enforcement recovered a massive cache of contraband. Officers seized hundreds of grams of methamphetamine and marijuana, alongside thousands of ecstasy pills and cash suspected to be the proceeds of drug sales. Authorities found the cash specifically alongside the marijuana.
Investigators also uncovered heavy operational equipment. Recovered items included an ecstasy press machine, smoking bongs, bladed weapons, and firearms.

Police Plan Demolition to Dismantle Local Trafficking Network
Police have announced plans to demolish the illegal railway-side structures entirely to dismantle the local trafficking network. We will also continue the operation in other places as well as pursue the drug dealers,
Prakoso added. Authorities indicated that operations will expand to other neighborhoods as investigations into wider suppliers continue.
