Lebanese singer Walid Al-Hallani has opened up about his personal life and views on marriage during a recent interview on the program Shoo Al-Qissa, hosted by journalist Rabaa El-Zayyat. In a conversation defined by its frankness and spontaneity, he revealed he has previously been in a relationship with a woman six years his senior, asserting that age is not a barrier to love unless the gap reaches 15 or 20 years.

In his discussion with El-Zayyat, Walid Al-Hallani addressed societal concerns regarding marriage, dismissing the importance of age and religious background as primary deciding factors for a life partner. Reflecting on his past, Al-Hallani confirmed he had been romantically involved with a woman, who was older than him by six years. He noted that he did not view their age difference as significant.

She was six years older than me, and I don’t consider that a large gap; for me, the large gap begins when it is 15 or 20 years, Al-Hallani stated. He further emphasized that his choice of a partner is based on harmony and mutual understanding. Regarding the potential for religious differences between spouses, he stated, I don’t focus on the woman’s religion; I feel that such matters are fate. He added that his primary requirement is the presence of mutual respect and the capacity to build a stable life together. When considering the qualities of his ideal partner, Al-Hallani noted that external beauty is not the fundamental factor, as he finds personality and attractiveness to be more influential. He expressed a desire for a partner who believes in his talent, supports his artistic path, and shares in his successes with affection, noting that mutual psychological support is a pillar for any lasting relationship.

Al-Hallani stressed that he does not adhere to a specific age for marriage, as the decision is tied to one’s genuine readiness to assume responsibility. I will marry the woman I feel I must marry, and age is not a barrier, he noted. He explained that establishing a family requires both financial and psychological preparedness, stating that marriage should not be treated merely as an emotional step, but as a full responsibility that necessitates the ability to build a home and care for a family.

Al-Hallani clarified that his entry into the music industry was not a pre-planned path from childhood. His talent was first identified by his sister, the artist Maritta Al-Hallani, when he was 14 years old. After hearing him sing at home, she encouraged him to perform for their parents. Upon hearing him, Assi Al-Hallani praised his vocal potential but emphasized that he required work, effort, and development. Al-Hallani stressed that he chose this career for himself, noting that his father did not force him into the field but instead allowed him the freedom to discover himself. He views the family name as a significant responsibility rather than a privilege.

Financial Independence and Relationship with Assi Al-Hallani

A key aspect of Al-Hallani’s personal growth has been his pursuit of autonomy. He revealed that he made the decision to live independently at the age of 18, desiring his own space. Furthermore, he has not accepted any allowance from his father since 2018, which coincided with the start of his professional artistic career. This step, he noted, helped him understand the value of work and self-reliance.

Describing his relationship with his father, Al-Hallani explained that Assi is not someone who frequently expresses his emotions through words or praise; instead, he prefers to demonstrate his affection and support through actions and specific situations. Al-Hallani noted that his father is always present when needed, particularly during difficult times, and that this style of upbringing helped him build his character and learn to shoulder responsibilities. He described his father as his “weak point” in life and a figure for whom he holds immense love. Al-Hallani particularly values his father’s loyalty, noting that Assi Al-Hallani has maintained his friendships and professional team since his early beginnings, a trait that has left a lasting impact on his own character. Regarding his childhood, Al-Hallani recalled it as one of the most beautiful stages of his life, filled with love and attention from his parents and his sisters, Maritta and Dana. He fondly remembered a three-day trip at age eleven where he accompanied his father to a desert filming location, choosing to sleep in the car with his father rather than return home, simply because he enjoyed the atmosphere of the artistic world.
