LONDON (AP) — King Charles III has reiterated that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, remain non-working members of the royal family following their return to the United Kingdom. A formal letter issued by the Lord Chamberlain clarifies that the couple will not carry out official engagements, use their royal titles, or access public funds.
In a formal communication sent to senior government officials, military leaders, and lord lieutenants across the country, the Crown clarified that the couple's return alters neither their responsibilities nor their standing within the institution.

The directive was issued by the Lord Chamberlain, the most senior officer of the British royal household, to senior officials in the government and military, as well as the King’s personal representatives nationwide.
“To help avoid doubt or confusion, The King has directed that (this) information be shared,” the letter says.
The guidance reiterates that the Sussexes will continue to refrain from using their HRH styles, which remain in abeyance. Any charitable activities they pursue will be conducted strictly in a private capacity, functioning akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests. Furthermore, their office will continue to operate entirely separate from the main royal household.
