Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon appealed to Instagram followers on October 16, 2026, after a FedEx shipment of vintage clothes he sent from New York to his filming location in Ireland was repeatedly rerouted to Israel. The package has since been successfully delivered.

Most travelers packing for a lengthy film shoot toss a few extra bags into a trunk and call it a day. Centering on Bacon’s role as Jefferson Haddock, the movie features Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz and The Gentlemen actor Daniel Ings as they face off against a frightening demon at a remote witness protection site. Rather than hauling heavy luggage across the Atlantic, the Footloose star decided to mail a box of his favorite off-screen wardrobe ahead of time.

That choice kicked off an unexpected international odyssey. Because many of the garments dated back to the 1990s and carried sentimental value, replacing them with a quick shopping trip held little appeal. Even though he and his actress wife of more than 35 years, Kyra Sedgwick, share an estimated fortune of $45 million—meaning he could easily afford to buy a fresh wardrobe—he was determined to retrieve those particular pieces.

The Global Detour Through France, Germany, and Israel

Bacon documented the parcel’s bizarre routing via social media after failing to reach customer service by phone. According to his tracking timeline, the package moved from New York to Memphis, then crossed into France before arriving in Germany on September 28.

From there, the delivery strayed far from the Emerald Isle. The box was dispatched directly to Israel on September 29. Over the following week, the shipment ping-ponged between European hubs and the Middle East in a repetitive loop.

  • September 29: Shipped from Germany to Israel instead of Ireland.
  • October 3–4: Returned briefly to France, then routed back to Israel a second time.
  • October 5–6: Moved to Germany, then sent back to Israel for a third time.
  • October 10–11: Returned to France, moved to England, and finally crossed into Ireland.

Despite finally arriving in Ireland on October 11, the package remained stuck at a local depot for five days. It’s just sitting there. I can’t get a person on the phone. I have not been able to talk to anybody, Bacon told his followers on October 16.

FedEx Issues a Public Apology and Delivers the Package

The actor’s public appeal drew millions of views and lighthearted jokes from fellow celebrities, including a quip from actor Justin Long suggesting he should have just had the items sent straight to Israel for a full nineties grunge aesthetic. It also caught the attention of the shipping company.

We sincerely apologize for this experience. We are in direct contact with Mr. Bacon’s team to deliver the package. This outcome should have happened sooner, and we are reviewing what went wrong to help ensure we deliver the level of service our customers expect and deserve.

FedEx spokeswoman, via The Irish Times

By October 19, FedEx confirmed the successful delivery of the vintage wardrobe. In a direct response to the actor’s viral video, the courier acknowledged that they got this wrong and assured the public that internal reviews were underway to prevent similar international routing errors.
