Egyptian actress Mai Omar has kicked off filming for her upcoming 30-episode Ramadan 2027 drama series, Halima Gibran. The production, written by Mohab Tarek and directed by Mohamed Bakir, has faced rapid cast changes following high-profile actor withdrawals ahead of its scheduled broadcast on MBC Masr and MBC Shahid.
Filming for Halima Gibran began amid celebrations shared by the lead actress across social media, where she posted images alongside the production crew in front of a large celebratory cake bearing the series title. Produced by Hassan Assiri, the social drama marks Omar’s fourth year headlining a Ramadan television series, following her work in Naema Al-Avocato in 2024, Ish Ish in 2025, and El-Sitt Mona Lisa in 2026.
Cast Lineup Faces Rapid Changes
Ahmed Khaled Saleh withdrew from his role due to scheduling conflicts with his commitments to the film The Blue Elephant 3. Producers moved quickly to secure Hany Adel as his replacement to take over the character.

Yosra El Lozy stepped away from the series weeks prior amid her involvement in the upcoming drama Ashmawy starring Mohamed Ramadan.
Cast Members Portray Family Tensions and Supportive Roles
Omar portrays a fashion designer dealing with pressure brought on by her husband and family members in a contemporary social setting. The wider ensemble features a large roster of television and film talent, including Mohamed Riad, Nashwa Moustafa, Mohamed Hatem, Bayoumi Fouad, Ahmed Bahaa, Engy Al-Muqaddam, Bassant Shawky, Alaa Morsy, and Hazem Ehab.
Veteran actress Arafa Abdel Rasul plays an elderly woman who offers Halima a stabilizing presence and emotional refuge against her daily pressures. Emad Rashad steps in as the father of Halima’s husband, a figure who intensifies domestic friction by attempting to intervene directly in the couple’s marital affairs.

Cinematic Projects
She recently appeared on the big screen alongside Ahmed El Awadly in the action-comedy film Samson and Delilah, directed by Rauf El-Sayed and produced by Ahmed El Sobky and Karim El Sobky. Her film slate also includes the historical action-thriller El-Ghorban (The Crows) directed by Yassin Hassan, alongside upcoming work on the film Hiroshima with Ahmed El Sakka.
Production on Halima Gibran continues under tight schedules as the cast and crew work through closed sets to meet delivery dates for the upcoming Ramadan television season.
They called me and told me you have a role in Halima Gibran with Mai Omar, and I said thank God, I will sit with her and work with her for a longer period. I love her very much on a personal level.
