Aaron D. Wrenn, a former resident of Sitka and later a resident of Wasilla, died on August 7 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 59. A celebration of his life is pending.

Early Life and Career Across Alaska

Born on June 20, 1967, at Mt. Edgecumbe hospital, Aaron was the eighth child of Wayne and Selina (Marks) Wrenn. He attended Sitka High School before relocating to Juneau, where he worked at Wendy’s restaurant and served as its manager prior to returning to Sitka. Back in Sitka, he was employed by Korner Kash liquor store and later worked for American Legion Post 13. He moved to Wasilla three years prior to his passing.

Throughout his life, Wrenn held affiliations with several organizations. He was a shareholder of Shee Atika Inc. and Sealaska Corporation, an enrolled citizen of the Sitka Tribe of Alaska, and a member of the Sons of American Legion. Outside of work and community involvement, he enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49ers play.

Sisters and Caregivers Accompanied Aaron into the Woods

Aaron’s sisters Monique and Camille, along with his caregivers, were by his side when he walked into the woods. His family stated that “Aaron is home now at his final resting place,” and expressed thanks to the Sitka Tribe of Alaska and Shee Atika for helping with funeral expenses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne A. Wrenn of Maine and Selina (Marks) Wrenn of Sitka; his grandmother, Mary Marks of Sitka; and his brothers, Wayne A. Wrenn Jr. of Kentucky and Anthony (Tony) Wrenn of Sitka.

He is survived by his sisters Sabrina Smith of Sitka, Monique Tow of Oregon, Camille Ferguson of Oregon, and Suzette Burkhart of Sitka, as well as his brother Frank Wrenn of Kentucky. He also leaves behind his daughter Alexia Wrenn of Homer, son Douglas Wrenn of Anchorage, granddaughter Nevaeh of Homer, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
