Baseball Analytics Fellow - Colorado Rockies

Climbing to Coors Field

The Colorado Rockies are opening their doors to quantitative talent with a clear timeline for applicants. The franchise has posted a Baseball Analytics Fellow position based in Denver, targeting early-career quantitative analysts to help manage the unique competitive challenges of playing at altitude.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, but candidates must submit their materials by November 16, 2026. The franchise estimates that the entire recruitment process will wrap up by December 1, 2026, setting up a fast turnaround for the incoming staffer.

Inside the Analytics Fellowship

The temporary, full-time exempt position runs from January 1 through October 31, 2027. It carries a salary at the rate of $60,000 per year, which translates to approximately $50,000 for the duration of the assignment. Non-local candidates may also receive a housing stipend alongside a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k), and paid time off.

The fellow will report directly to the Director of Baseball Research within the Baseball Operations department. Responsibilities cover a wide breadth of modern front-office needs. The role requires preparing and distributing advance scouting reports, monitoring daily roster moves, and supporting predictive modeling projects. Analysts will also build visualizations, dashboards, and lightweight tools to translate complex data for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications and Software Stack

To qualify, applicants need a bachelor’s degree in a technical, quantitative, or otherwise relevant field, or equivalent demonstrated experience. Proficiency in SQL and at least one statistical programming language like R or Python is mandatory. Candidates must also demonstrate experience cleaning and validating large datasets.

Preferred qualifications lean heavily into modern infrastructure and machine learning. The Rockies favor candidates with experience in AWS or other cloud environments, Git version control, and web application frameworks like R Shiny. Familiarity with machine learning, simulation, computer vision, and AI development tools such as Claude is listed as a distinct plus.

Colorado Rockies employees can apply directly through the internal job board in UKG. All other interested candidates must apply through the public listing before the November deadline. The organization participates in E-Verify and maintains its status as an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
