Boise State climbed to No. 21 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll following a dramatic 46-45 victory over Texas State. The team held steady at No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

Surviving a Late Halloween Scare

The Broncos faced a steep deficit late into Saturday night’s home game in Boise. Boise State squandered a 28-3 halftime lead and fell behind 39-28 after a Maddux Madsen pick-six with roughly eight minutes remaining on the clock. Backup quarterback Max Cutforth stepped in after Madsen suffered an apparent knee injury, completing 8 of 13 passes for 131 yards and tossing three crucial fourth-quarter touchdowns to secure the one-point win.

Freshman wide receiver Rasean Jones also delivered a standout performance during the comeback. Jones became just the second freshman in the program’s FBS era to score three touchdowns in a single game.

Boise State Gains Points in National Polls

In the AP Poll, Boise State (7-1, 4-0 Pac-12) collected 451 points, up from 422 the previous week, maintaining its sixth consecutive week in the AP rankings. In the Coaches Poll, the Broncos moved up one spot, securing 445 points compared to 396 last week, marking their fourth straight week in that poll.

Boise State remains the only undefeated team in Pac-12 conference play at 4-0 for the third consecutive season. The victory marks the team’s seventh straight win, with the offense scoring 30 or more points in each contest—a feat the program has not accomplished since 2014.

“Experience is the biggest teacher,” Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson said after the game. “Max being able to go through what he did last season, I knew that had led to a lot of confidence.”

Looking Ahead to Colorado State

The Broncos look to extend their win streak on November 7, traveling to Fort Collins, Colorado, to face Colorado State. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. MT with a national broadcast on USA Sports.
