Michigan Plant Secures Major Funding

Marking two decades of manufacturing history in mid-Michigan, the GM Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant is locking down a $750 million investment. The injection of capital follows a record 2025 production run where plant workers built more than 291,000 vehicles, according to reporting by GM Authority.

The fresh funding stands independent of a previously designated $1.25 billion earmarked for the nearby Lansing Grand River plant. Combined, the two Michigan facilities account for about $2 billion in upcoming manufacturing upgrades. These localized expenditures form a slice of a broader investment of roughly $9 billion in U.S. manufacturing, paired with $7 billion dedicated to research and development.

Federal Grant Restructuring Supports Operations

A portion of the capital driving the Lansing Delta site forward arrives via the Domestic Manufacturing Conversion Grant. The U.S. Department of Energy originally awarded these funds to GM, and both the automaker and the federal agency are actively restructuring the grant to direct resources straight into the facility’s future operations.

Lansing’s strength starts with its people. Their skill and experience are why we continue to invest here. We’re building on what this team does well today while preparing for what customers will need in the years ahead. That means investing in our people, our facilities, and the ability to build a broad range of vehicles. — Mike Trevorrow, senior vice president, Global Manufacturing

The plant presently handles production of the Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers. All three models rely on the GM C1 platform and draw power from the gas-fed turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 engine.

Upcoming Hybrid Vehicle Integration

Factory floors in Lansing are preparing to transition toward electrified powertrains. While GM has not yet confirmed specific production schedules or final model designations, previous reports indicate that hybrid variants of the Enclave, Traverse, and Acadia are headed to the assembly lines.
