Sean Brown and his sons visited a Cumberland barber shop for routine haircuts on Tuesday, but the outing ended with a personal invitation from Maryland Wes Moore to visit the governor’s mansion in Annapolis. The encounter occurred when Moore made an impromptu stop at Cuttz Of Encouragement, located in the Rosenbaum building on Baltimore Street.
During the visit, Gov. Moore engaged the family in conversation, asking the boys—Naheem, 12, and Sean, 7—about their interests, including sports. Moore also joked about being bald and remarked, I needed a haircut… I’d get in line,
before telling the group, But, you go,
as he extended the invitation to the family to travel to Annapolis.
Campaign Goals in Republican Areas
The stop in Cumberland was part of a broader tour by the governor, who is currently in the close of his campaign for a second term. According to The Cumberland Times-News, Moore’s objective for the tour is to meet with Democrats from Garrett and Allegany counties and to flip Republican election seats in those areas of the state.

Local Reactions to the Visit
The impromptu visit was well-received by those inside the shop. Barber Cory McCarty described the stop as really cool
and stated he liked the governor’s effort to connect with Allegany County.
Shop owner Kenny Weedon noted that while he typically avoids political conversations, he enjoyed the governor’s presence.
Sean Brown, who moved to Allegany County in 2018 with his wife, expressed eagerness to accept the offer. His words of encouragement… my kids will be talking about meeting him,
Brown said.
