Indiana Midterm Election Results Open Statewide Race for Secretary of State
Polls closed at 6 p.m. CT across Indiana as voters cast ballots in the midterm elections, deciding seats for Congress and an open contest for Secretary of State. Results are expected to begin populating in the first half-hour after polls close, with live updates rolling in as counted votes roll in.
This year’s race for Secretary of State has drawn national attention. Earlier this year at the state’s Republican convention, current officeholder Diego Morales lost his opportunity to run for another term. That exit created an open contest between Republican Max Engling and Democratic nominee Beau Bayh. Analysts are now pondering a major inquiry: Is it possible for a Democratic candidate to secure a statewide victory in Indiana for the first time in 1.4 decades?
While Indiana’s governor seat isn’t on the ballot this midterm election, the Secretary of State contest has drawn attention. Voters are also deciding races for members of Congress, as control of Congress hangs in the balance.
Regional election administration across neighboring states also moved forward on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. According to FOX 5, voters in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia headed to the polls for midterm elections that feature the Virginia U.S. Senate race, the Maryland governor’s race, and the D.C. mayoral race. FOX 5 noted that its election results are provided by The Associated Press election services and update as votes are counted, and the AP makes race calls.
As election night proceeds, Indiana results will continue updating live as counted votes roll in. Control of congressional seats and the outcome of the Secretary of State race will become clear as votes are tallied.
