Indiana State brings its four-match homestand into a festive Friday night inside ISU Arena, welcoming a dominant Northern Iowa squad for a Missouri Valley Conference clash billed as “Volloween,” gosycamores.com reported. The opening serve is set for 6 p.m., with the match broadcasting on ESPN+ as the Sycamores look to sustain some rare momentum against the league.
Fans Wear Costumes as Northern Iowa Protects Record
Fans attending the match are encouraged to wear costumes, setting up a contest between the second and third sets where the winner takes home a $50 gift card usable at local Terre Haute spots like The Terminal, Copper Bar, Ladybird Café, or Charlie’s. Alongside the holiday atmosphere, the athletics department is rolling out $1 beers while supplies last.
Yet the real drama sits squarely on the Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa arrives in town holding a pristine 10-0 conference record and an overall mark of 16-5. The Panthers have dropped just a single set since conference play opened and carry a staggering 70-match win streak against Valley opponents spanning both regular-season and postseason contests—marking the longest active conference win streak in the entire NCAA.

Building on Evansville Sweep
The Sycamores step onto their home court following a crisp three-set sweep of in-state rival Evansville (25-16, 25-17, 25-23). That Tuesday evening victory marked Indiana State’s first home win of the 2026 season and handed head coach Ted Kopacz his inaugural home victory at the helm of the program.
The offense clicked with rare efficiency against the Purple Aces. Indiana State hit a season-best .363 while suffocating the visitors defensively, holding Evansville to a .129 hitting clip. Middle blockers Lily Mueller and Ella Scott played flawless error-free volleyball, combining for staggering numbers that kept the offense humming. Scott put down seven kills on nine attempts for a blistering .778 hitting percentage while adding five blocks, and Mueller matched her season high with nine kills on a .600 clip.
“Indiana State’s second straight conference win over an in-state foe also featured the Sycamores’ second sweep of the season,” gosycamores.com noted, highlighting a stretch that snapped a two-match skid against Evansville and marked the program’s first back-to-back conference wins since late 2025.

Macy Lengacher Nears 1,000 Career Digs Milestone
Senior defensive specialist and libero Macy Lengacher stands on the precipice of program history entering the weekend. The Wakarusa, Indiana native needs just 18 digs to reach 1,000 for her career. When she crosses that threshold, she will become only the 12th player in program history to record 1,000 career digs, and the first to achieve the milestone since the 2020-21 campaign. Lengacher anchors a back row that has seen her average 3.12 digs per set against Valley competition.
Statistically, Indiana State's attack ranks among the nation's most active. The Trees lead the Missouri Valley Conference in total kills (1,144), assists (1,073), and attacks (3,181), keeping them comfortably inside the top 30 nationally across all three categories. They have also proven remarkably resilient in marathon matches, logging a 5-2 record in seven five-set affairs this season.
Stopping Northern Iowa’s high-octane attack remains a steep hill. The Panthers feature Cassidy Hartman and Lily Dykstra, who both average upward of four kills per set, alongside setter Reese Booth handing out more than 10 assists per set. History favors the visitors, as Northern Iowa holds a 72-6 lead in the all-time series and has captured the last six meetings since Indiana State’s last victory in Terre Haute back in 2021.
Following Friday night’s Volloween showdown, Indiana State stays put in Terre Haute to host Valparaiso for Senior Night on November 6 inside Hulman Center, before returning to ISU Arena on November 7 to face Murray State.
