Lincoln Plans Luxury off-Roader Based on Ford Bronco
Automotive margins are notoriously unforgiving, but a heavy dose of luxury ruggedness changes the math entirely. Autoblog reported that Ford is actively laying the groundwork for a dedicated luxury off-roader built by its premium division, Lincoln, utilizing the foundational architecture of the current Ford Bronco. This move aims to deliver a domestic alternative to high-end European utility vehicles without starting from a blank sheet of paper.
Production is slated for the very same Michigan facility where the standard Bronco rolls off the line. While no official moniker has been locked in by the company, the visual silhouette is coming into sharp focus.
Powerful V6 Engines Will Replace Base Four-Cylinder Options
The mechanics underneath the sheet metal will lean heavily on existing Ford hardware, though with distinct cabin-isolation tuning to counteract the rugged, truck-like ride of the standard Bronco. Under the hood, the base four-cylinder engine is expected to be left behind in favor of stouter options. The twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 producing 330 horsepower is a natural candidate, while high-output configurations drawing inspiration from the Bronco Raptor could push outputs past 400 horsepower.

Cost and competitive targets will dictate how far upmarket Lincoln takes the architecture. While the Mercedes-Benz G-Class commands a starting price of roughly $155,000, a more realistic rival sits in the Land Rover Defender segment, where base models open closer to $67,000. That pricing bracket aligns closely with heavily optioned versions of the mainstream Ford off-roader already populating dealer lots.
New Luxury Vehicle Arrives Between 2028 and 2029
Consumers waiting for Lincoln’s budget-minded alternative to heavy-duty luxury 4x4s will need patience. The vehicle is scheduled to arrive before the end of the decade, pointing to an official debut sometime between 2028 and 2029.
