Manchester City remains winless in this season’s Women’s Champions League after a late goal from Tara Elimbi Gilbert secured a 1-1 draw for Paris Saint-Germain at the Joie Stadium. The result leaves Andree Jeglertz’s side struggling to find their first victory after three consecutive draws in the competition.
City appeared to be heading toward a breakthrough in the 85th minute when Khadija Shaw converted a penalty. The Jamaica striker, who recently finished third in the Ballon d’Or, scored her 10th goal in 10 outings to give the hosts the lead. However, the advantage lasted only three minutes before Gilbert leveled the score in the 88th minute.
Impact on League Standings
While the draw moves Manchester City up to 10th place in the standings, they remain four points behind top-four teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea. Finishing in the top four of the new league phase would grant automatic qualification for the quarter-finals, avoiding the play-offs.

Anton Toloui of SSN noted that the result represents “more dropped points” for a club that completed the domestic double last season, stating it is “not the start the club had envisioned on their return to the competition.”
Jeglertz Defends Defensive Lapse
The late equalizer follows a similar pattern to a recent Women’s Super League match where Manchester United scored in the 89th minute to end City’s perfect start to that campaign. Despite this, Andree Jeglertz rejected the idea that a lack of concentration caused the goal against PSG.
It’s not a lack of concentration, there’s always concentration.
Jeglertz told BBC Sport. He attributed the goal to the individual skill of the opponent, stating, “They have a fast player. She was beating us one against one and scored.”
Jeglertz expressed mixed feelings about the result but maintained that the overall performance showed the team’s level. He noted that City has already faced three of the six highest-ranked teams they are scheduled to play, leaving three games remaining to secure qualification for the next round.
