A long-time Nampa shopping destination is preparing to welcome a new grocery retailer, with municipal records pointing toward a major addition at the former Karcher Shopping Mall.
Work is underway at District 208 for a new Natural Grocers location at 1509 Caldwell Blvd., according to building permits filed with the City of Nampa. The development follows an October 22 announcement from Nampa Mayor Darl Bruner during his State of the City Address, where he noted that a grocery store was planned for the shopping center and that an official announcement would arrive toward the end of the year, BoiseDev reported.
City Permit Files Outline Ongoing Interior Renovations
City permit files indicate that current operations at the site involve “shell improvements” for the incoming grocer. Documents list interior demolition, an overbuild, new HVAC installation, and utility work designed to coordinate with future tenant demand. A separate tenant improvement application will be required before a certificate of occupancy is issued. The current status of the application is listed as “corrections pending.”
Neither city officials nor the corporate office have clarified the exact footprint the store will occupy within the commercial center. Natural Grocers did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the Nampa store’s specific product offerings or opening timeline.
Organic Chain Operates Stores Across Multiple States
Headquartered in Laketon, Colorado, Natural Grocers specializes in 100% organic produce alongside dairy, meat, seafood, and other items. The chain operates more than 170 stores across 22 states. The company currently maintains four locations in Idaho, including one in Boise.
District 208, previously known as the Karcher Shopping Mall, has undergone redevelopment.
