North Dakota Charities Gather in Bismarck for State’s First Charitable Gaming Conference
Charities from across North Dakota compared notes on gaming operations as the state’s first Charitable Gaming Conference and Tradeshow wrapped up Wednesday at the Bismarck Hotel and Conference Center in Bismarck, KFYR-TV reported. The two-day event brought together charities, vendors, and state regulators to tackle the day-to-day realities of local fundraising.
Sessions throughout the conference focused heavily on the mechanics of licensing, audits, and the operational details of electronic pull-tabs. For many local groups, the gathering provided a rare chance to troubleshoot administrative hurdles with peers who follow the same regulations.
Finding Common Ground Across Nonprofits
Fargo Metro Baseball Association President Jeff Gould attended the event to learn what strategies are working for other organizations in the state.
“We’re new to it. And we’re trying to learn, you know, maybe we’re not doing something correctly that we could do better. So it’s been great to collaborate with the other charities and learn how they do things,” Gould said. Association President Jeff Gould
Panels throughout the two-day tradeshow also explored the broader challenges facing charities and discussed frameworks for mutual support. Gould noted that those collaborative conversations helped reveal shared challenges among vastly different types of groups.
“The biggest takeaway for myself right now is just, not one thing fits all, right? Every charity is a little bit different, but what I’ve been impressed with is, we have a lot more in common than I thought before,” Gould said.
Statewide Proceeds Reach New Heights
The event was jointly organized by the North Dakota Gaming Alliance and the Charitable Gaming Association of North Dakota. The gathering arrives as the sector experiences substantial financial activity, with statewide charitable gaming proceeds reaching nearly $2.5 billion in 2025.
