Old Dominion University men’s basketball returns to Chartway Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. to host Regent University in an exhibition matchup, odusports.com reported.
The Monarchs enter the midweek contest at 1-0 after opening their 2026-27 campaign with a 61-49 home win over Western Michigan on Monday night. That victory came during the first round of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge, a multi-conference series where the Sun Belt holds a cumulative 41-33 record against the MAC through the first three years of the Challenge.
Wednesday’s game marks the meeting between Old Dominion and the Division III Royals. Scott Jackson and Billy Mann will handle the broadcast on ESPN+, while Ted Alexander and Dennis Wolff will call the action on ESPN Sports Radio 94.1.
Monarchs Seek Momentum After Second-Half Surge
Old Dominion head into Wednesday night looking to build on a gritty season opener. Against Western Michigan, the Monarchs erased a second-half deficit sparked by a 13-0 run from the Broncos. Zacch Wiggins carried the offense down the stretch, pouring in 19 of his career best 25 points after halftime to secure the 61-49 win.
Bubu Benjamin chipped in nine points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals, while Jared Turner grabbed eight rebounds and scored eight points. Head coach Mike Jones, entering his third season leading the program, holds a 28-41 overall record in Norfolk following Monday’s victory.
Regent Prepares for Second Exhibition in Three Days
Regent makes the short trip to Norfolk playing its second exhibition, having dropped a 68-45 decision to Norfolk State on Monday. The Royals trailed 35-15 at halftime before matching the Spartans more closely in the second half, getting outscored by just three points after the break.

Chase Mullen, a sophomore guard from Virginia Beach, led Regent with eight points against Norfolk State while shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor. Mullen is the son of the late Mario Mullen, who played for ODU from 1992 to 1996 and helped capture the 1995 CAA Championship. Barry Hollenbeck, promoted to head coach on March 4 after two seasons as associate head coach, guides a Regent squad picked fifth in the Coast-To-Coast Conference preseason poll.
