As Respect Life Month draws to its close, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is already locking in its calendar for the new year. The Office of Life, Justice & Peace announced that OneLife LA will return to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, January 23, 2027.
Now in its 13th year, the annual gathering and Walk for Life brings together people to promote a culture valuing every stage of human existence from conception to natural death. The event first took place on January 17, 2015.
Archbishop Gomez Sets the Tone for 2027
Archbishop José H. Gomez framed the upcoming gathering as an ongoing mission rather than a single afternoon of programming. The Archdiocese aims to unite distinct communities across the region to inspire tangible civic and charitable action.
OneLife is a vision for a new way of living, a culture of life, a society where every life is sacred, and every life is cared for. Let’s keep going, always forward, as the saints say. We cannot rest until every human life is cherished — protected by our laws and treated with compassion and cared for in our society.
The program will feature prominent speakers from national religious organizations. Father Francis J. “Father Rocky” Hoffman, chairman and CEO of Relevant Radio and new president and rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion, will address attendees alongside various musical acts.
When we stand up for the unborn, we make Jesus happy because He said, ‘whatever you do for the least of my brethren you do unto me.’ Relevant Radio, the Family Rosary Across America, and The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion are honored to participate in OneLife LA this year.
Father Matt Wheeler Emcees Event with Musical Performances
Father Matt Wheeler, pastor at Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center, will emcee the afternoon program. Opening the event with a musical performance is Southern California singer-songwriter Francis Cabildo, a theology graduate from Catholic International University who has previously served as a missionary with NET Ministries and Life Teen, Inc.
Beyond the speeches and performances, organizers are partnering with dozens of community partners. Attendees will be invited to sign up for specific service projects, ranging from feeding the homeless and supporting pregnant women to finding families for foster children and visiting the elderly.
The afternoon will culminate inside the Cathedral with the annual “Requiem for the Unborn” Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Gomez. During the service, participants will light candles in remembrance of the babies lost to abortion daily in Southern California.
Updates, schedules, and digital links for the upcoming gathering can be found through official channels at OneLife LA.
