Moving from high school graduation to the next phase of life is rarely straightforward. Families often face a maze of financial aid deadlines, tuition realities, and career choices with very little a map.
That reality is driving a new community push in Louisiana. Regions Bank announced that it will host a free educational event titled Extra Credit: Your Next Step Starts Here, tailored specifically to help New Orleans-area high school students and their families untangle post-graduation planning.
Regions Bank Hosts College Planning Seminar in New Orleans
The program is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. It will take place at Delgado Community College’s Ochsner Center for Nursing & Allied Health in New Orleans. Organizers note that registration is required and seating is limited, though attendees do not need to hold an account with the bank to participate.
Graham Ralston, New Orleans market president for Regions Bank, pointed to the sheer weight of this life stage.
“The transition from high school to college, technical training or a career is one of life’s most important milestones,” said Graham Ralston, New Orleans market president for Regions Bank. “When students and families have access to practical information and trusted guidance, they are better prepared to make confident decisions about their future.”

The curriculum tackles the mechanics of paying for college, building a baseline of personal finance knowledge, and sorting through academic and personal support resources. Financial professionals and community leaders are slated to speak.
Colleges and Banks Offer Financial Literacy Resources
Colleges are stepping into the fray alongside corporate sponsors to ease these anxieties. Dr. Stacy Welcome, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Delgado Community College, emphasized the emotional toll the process takes on households.
“At Delgado Community College, we know that planning for college can be exciting, but also overwhelming for students and their families,” said Dr. Stacy Welcome, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Delgado Community College.
Beyond the single evening event, Regions Bank maintains a suite of digital and in-person tools designed to improve financial literacy. These include the Regions Greenprint® planning tool, which pairs students with a Regions banker to map out short- and long-term financial goals, and Regions Next Step for Students—a collection of self-paced digital modules covering student loans, taxes, and identity protection.
The institutional system for financial literacy, as outlined by Regions Bank, includes reality check simulation games and accessible seminars tailored for individuals with cognitive disabilities.
