Savior of the World Concert and Broadcast Coming to Temple Square in 2026

For the upcoming holiday season, the musical tradition on Temple Square is changing. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that “Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection” will be presented as a two-day concert and live broadcast rather than a month-long production of the full musical.

Temple Square Preparations Shape a Condensed Schedule

The adjustment comes as crews prepare for the 2027 Salt Lake Temple Celebration and the closure of the Conference Center. Running as a free, ticketed event from late November through December, “Savior of the World” has been staged by multiple casts in the Conference Center Little Theater ever since the facility opened in 2000. This year, organizers are streamlining the production to focus on Act 1, which centers on the anticipation and celebration of the Savior’s birth.

Despite the shortened format, the scale of the musical elements remains large. Concertgoers will experience minimal staging backed by a live orchestra, actors, and an expanded 300-member choir composed of children, youth, young adults, and adults, many participating as families.

Secure Free Tickets for November Performances

The live performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 27–28, 2026, inside the historic Tabernacle on Temple Square. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. both evenings, supplemented by an additional Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. ASL interpretation will be available during the Saturday evening performance.

While admission is free, tickets are required to enter. They become available on Tuesday, November 10, at 10 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time.

For those unable to attend in person, the November 28 performance will be streamed live in English and ASL via the Church’s YouTube channel and Broadcasts.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. The recording will also remain accessible on-demand through those platforms and the Gospel Library.

Stage Regional Productions in Late 2026

The musical continues to be utilized under the direction of local Church leaders. Complete scripts, scores for the 38 musical numbers, and guidelines for casting, costuming, props, and set design are hosted online for community use.

Regional variations are already on the calendar for late 2026. The Church’s Pacific Area is set to stage “Savior of the World” from December 16–19 at the Due Drop Events Center in Auckland, New Zealand, and as a separate broadcast. In Laie, Hawaii, the Polynesian Cultural Center Pacific Theater will host performances of the musical by Brigham Young University–Hawaii on Saturday and Sunday, November 28–29, as well as Wednesday, December 2. The full production will be back next year.
