UAMS Hosts 31st Annual Diabetes Update in Little Rock on Nov. 14
Healthcare professionals treating diabetes face complex clinical decisions daily, from managing evolving pharmacological options to helping patients overcome barriers to treatment adherence. To address these challenges, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is hosting the 31st Annual Diabetes Update on November 14, 2026, in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
The daylong educational program runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Walton Auditorium on the 10th floor of the Cancer Institute, with parking available in Parking Deck 3 at the corner of UAMS Boulevard and Capitol Avenue. The event is designed for healthcare professionals in a variety of specialties who diagnose and treat diabetes.
Keynote Focus on Diabetes Technology and Patient Adherence
The program places a heavy emphasis on bridging the gap between clinical recommendations and daily patient management. The primary goal centers on sharing best-practice strategies that allow the healthcare team to improve patient care and enhance communication, which directly targets increasing patient adherence to prescribed regimens.
Justin Eastzer is the keynote speaker for the event. As a reporter, podcaster, and advocate for diabetics who founded Diabetech—a multiplatform source for diabetes technology, news, and research—Eastzer will deliver a presentation titled “What’s New and Exciting in Diabetes Technology.”
Clinical Updates, GLP-1 Medications, and Continuing Education Credits
Beyond technology, the curriculum covers a broad spectrum of clinical updates essential for modern practice. Agenda topics include updates to diabetes standards of care, prescribing information for injectable and oral GLP-1 medications, Medicaid formularies, cooking healthy meals, and new-onset diabetes education.
Additional sessions will examine hypoglycemia, ketone monitoring, hot topics concerning older adults, and the prevention of heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular death in diabetics.
The university designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM for physicians. The program also offers up to 8.0 contact hours for nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, registered dietitians, and athletic trainers, depending on the specific board requirements and successful completion of attendance and evaluation materials.
Professionals interested in attending can obtain registration details and additional information directly through the UAMS Cloud-CME course portal.
