The Baltimore Ravens are reshaping their quarterback room on the fly, signing Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster off the Green Bay Packers practice squad on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, amid a staggering run of injuries at the position.
Quarterback Crisis Following Week 8 Injuries Against Buffalo
Baltimore’s quarterback depth chart imploded during a 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday that dropped the team to 4-4 and last place in the AFC North. Lamar Jackson suffered a thumb injury on the very first offensive play of the game, an issue that requires surgery and places him on injured reserve. Backup Tyler Huntley sustained a toe injury.
That left emergency third-stringer Joe Fagnano to finish the game under heavy pressure. Fagnano completed 48 percent of his passes for 91 yards and a pick against a ferocious Buffalo defense that blitzed on over 64% of snaps. To compound matters, Fagnano picked up an ankle injury during the contest, leaving his availability in doubt.
A new QB in Baltimore: The Ravens are signing Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster off the Packers’ practice squad, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports. The options for Thursday night against Jacksonville now include Joe Fagnano, Austin Reed and Slovis, who played in two games…
The Ravens face a nightmarish scenario at the position with just barely 48 hours remaining until a Thursday night kickoff against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Because Fagnano was limited in Monday’s walkthrough with his ankle issue, the team faced an urgent need to secure fresh arms before facing Jacksonville’s formidable run defense.
Kedon Slovis Arrives With Coaching Ties on a Short Week
With just 48 hours until a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Ravens turned to Slovis, a 25-year-old who went undrafted out of BYU in 2024. Slovis has spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, and Green Bay Packers. He appeared in two regular-season games last year for Arizona, attempting just two passes.

Ravens’ QB coach Israel Woolfork held the same job in Arizona last season during a year where Slovis was on the roster, so the two are familiar with each other. That familiarity helps as the young passer attempts to learn the playbook on an abbreviated practice schedule.
Across his collegiate career, Slovis threw for 11,689 yards and 80 touchdowns, with 39 interceptions. After going undrafted in 2024, he spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans before suiting up for the Arizona Cardinals in 2025 and landing on the Green Bay Packers practice squad on September 1, 2026.

Austin Reed Joins the Practice Squad as Options Dwindle
Alongside the Slovis signing, Baltimore brought back quarterback Austin Reed to the practice squad on Monday. Reed spent training camp and the preseason with the Ravens, appearing in all three exhibition games and completing 6 of 12 passes for 59 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, alongside a rushing touchdown.
Reed also shares history with Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle from their time together in Chicago. That system familiarity could push Reed past Slovis on the game-day depth chart if Fagnano cannot answer the bell.

Reed spent the 2024 season on the Chicago Bears practice squad before joining the UFL’s Dallas Renegades for the 2026 spring season, where he threw for 1,923 yards and 21 passing touchdowns.
Thursday Night Readiness Against Jacksonville
Ravens head coach Jesse Minter offered a cautious update on his walking wounded during his Monday press availability, singling out the rookie starter.

To Joe’s credit, he’s kind of fighting through a couple things he’s dealing with, but expect him to have a chance to play on Thursday.
Jesse Minter, Ravens Head Coach
If Fagnano is cleared to start against the Jaguars, Slovis and Reed would likely slot in as backups, giving Baltimore three active quarterbacks who all entered the NFL as undrafted free agents. Kickoff at Jacksonville looms with an offense scrambling to assemble a functional game plan before Thursday night.
With Fagnano nursing his ankle, Reed holding system experience from the preseason, and Slovis arriving directly from Green Bay’s practice squad with only a couple of practice days under his belt, the Ravens are facing extreme roster pressure. General manager Eric DeCosta and the front office face difficult choices about whether to sacrifice future draft capital or rely exclusively on street free agents and practice squad elevations as the 4-4 squad attempts to rescue its season.
In addition to bringing in Kedon Slovis from the Packers practice squad, the Ravens also worked out free agent QB Adrian Martinez this morning. Martinez, the UFL MVP in 2024, has had two stints with the Jets and 49ers. He's played in 1 NFL game.

Minter conceded that Joe Fagnano is dealing with some things physically, but he says he has a chance to play Thursday.
