Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey revealed he sustained a broken right wrist during the opening series of Week 3, casting uncertainty over his availability for the upcoming Thursday night matchup against the Cleveland Browns while league observers monitor his practice status and protective bracing.
The Week 3 Injury and Defensive Resilience
The physical toll on the Steelers secondary became apparent as details surfaced regarding the team’s defensive backfield. Ramsey, 31, said he sustained the injury on the first series of the Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Even with the fracture in his right wrist, he remained on the field for every single defensive snap, finishing the contest with eight tackles as Pittsburgh secured a 30-27 victory.
Ramsey added that his wrist felt OK
during the heat of competition, though the reality of managing a broken bone has since set in as a short week of preparation unfolds.
Practice Status and the Cleveland Browns Matchup
With a quick turnaround before facing the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night, the eight-time Pro Bowler was listed as limited in practice on Monday and Tuesday, wearing a protective brace and cast on his right arm. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Ramsey emphasized that his primary concern involves functional protection and maintaining his standard of play without becoming a liability for his teammates.
“I got to be able to protect it, obviously. [It’s a] broken wrist, so it’s not like I can’t really do anything about it. It’s just going to be about seeing if I’m able to protect it and also still be myself in a good enough capacity where I feel like if I go out there, I won’t be letting any of my teammates down.”
Jalen Ramsey, Steelers defensive back
Despite the severe nature of the injury, Ramsey made it clear that “of coursehe's going to
try to” play against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night, leaving his ultimate game-day availability dependent on how well the joint responds to protective gear during final pre-game evaluations.

Secondary Depth and Squad Adjustments
Having played every defensive snap through the first three games of the 2026 season, Ramsey’s potential absence or limitation places a spotlight on the wider Pittsburgh secondary.
