SEGA Reveals Year Two Roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Sonic racing fans are getting a massive injection of new content, permanent price drops, and crossover collaborations as SEGA details the future of its arcade racer following its World Championship Finals livestream and subsequent announcements. The second year of support, slated to begin on November 3, 2026, pairs a slate of free gameplay additions with a premium Season Pass packed with iconic outside franchises.

November 3 Launch Brings Duel Mode, Bayonetta, and Godzilla

The Year Two rollout kicks off with the 2.0 update on November 3, 2026, headlined by the introduction of 1v1 Duel Mode. This new competitive option matches two racers against one another on screen, incorporating a charging Duel Boost gauge that rewards item usage and strong track performance with bursts of speed.

Each new free character launch is wrapped in a themed Limited Time Event Festival, giving players a dedicated window to earn character-specific cosmetics and rewards tied to that release, with all new Festivals remaining active for ten days straight alongside returning past fan-favorite events. Characters added to the roster after the initial September 2025 release will also appear as CPU opponents in both online and offline modes.

Simultaneously, the first wave of paid DLC arrives with the Godzilla Pack on day one.

In addition to new courses, the 2.0 update introduces the Grand Master Plate to the Gadget Menu. This new gadget plate adds a seventh Super Slot for one-slot gadgets, amplifying the boosted effect of any single-slot gadget placed inside it while bringing 15 new gadgets to the game’s performance-boost collection on day one.

SEGA Cuts Game Prices to Undercut Competitors

To bolster sales following the game’s initial release, SEGA has instituted permanent price cuts across digital storefronts. The Standard Edition has dropped from $69.99 USD to $39.99 USD, while the Digital Deluxe Edition drops from $89.99 USD to $59.99 USD. A physical Year One Edition is also rolling out to retail stores for $59.99 on November 3, 2026, while the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition is available immediately.

The aggressive pricing undercuts competing platform exclusives like Nintendo’s $79.99 Mario Kart World, positioning the multiplatform arcade racer as a budget-friendly alternative for shoppers across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. CrossWorlds competition intensified after a World Championship event where Exponso from Mexico won the title after four hours of play; the event followed summer online qualifiers with more than 40,000 participants and 24 finalists who traveled to New York.
