Artillery Strikes and Mine Warnings Across Southern Towns

Communities across southern Lebanon faced renewed shelling and sweeping gunfire, leaving civilian infrastructure battered and agricultural land hazardous. According to the state-run National News Agency, artillery fire struck the As-Arayesh area in the town of Hariss, the Wadi al-Salouqi approach toward the outskirts of Shaqra in the Bint Jebil district, and the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit in the Nabatieh district as reported by Anadolu Ajansı.

The bombardment extended to Wadi Zibqin in the Tyre district, alongside targeted sweeps with heavy machine guns between Kfar Tebnit and Zawtar el-Charqieh. Military forces also operated in Wadi al-Hujair toward Ghandouriyeh, Al-Mansouri, and the vicinities of Yater, Beit Lif, and Sarbine.

The ongoing military pressure has transformed farming areas into danger zones. Municipalities in Froun and Yater issued urgent warnings directing residents to stay out of olive groves until official clearance is given, following civilian casualties from unexploded ordnance and direct fire. Previously, the Israeli military announced a large-scale detonation using over 1,100 tons of explosives to destroy a wide Hezbollah compound in the Ali Taher heights.

Casualties and Border Insecurity From the Hermel to the Litani

The human toll of the continuing hostilities expanded northward following separate incidents over the weekend. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that an airstrike near Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali in the Hermel district wounded six people, including five Syrian nationals and one Lebanese citizen, after a vehicle was targeted near the Syrian border.

In the south, casualties mounted from direct engagements and residual ordnance. Edgar Jallo, an official in the Internal Security Forces, was killed by an explosive object while working in an agricultural field in the town of Alma ash-Sha’b. Another citizen died in Yater following a direct strike by Israeli forces.

Operational accidents on the Israeli side also contributed to the tense border environment. The Israeli military reported that a soldier sustained minor injuries in an operational incident in southern Lebanon, following earlier reports from military radio regarding armored vehicle mishaps and ongoing searches in the Western Galilee following alerts of potential aerial infiltration near Arab al-Aramshe.

Lebanese President Welcomes Lifted Aviation Restrictions

Diplomatic efforts are moving in parallel with the field developments. Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun formally welcomed the U.S. decision to lift long-standing civil aviation restrictions on Lebanon. The decree, issued by President Donald Trump under federal register designation 2026-25, rescinded four presidential directives spanning from 1985 to 2007 that had restricted travel since the TWA flight hijacking era.

According to Lebanese health emergency figures, the cumulative toll of the conflict has reached 4,386 dead and 12,413 injured since March 2, alongside broader regional tensions as military planners watch upcoming political calendars in Washington and Tel Aviv. Amid these developments, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem stated in official remarks that the real solution begins with the exit of the lowly enemy along with its American supporter.
