A sweeping overnight Russian aerial assault across Ukraine targeted military industrial sites and logistics centers in Kyiv and multiple regional hubs, killing three people in the capital’s surrounding region and triggering heavy air defense operations.
Strikes Hit Kyiv Industrial Sites, Leave Three Dead
Overnight strikes battered the Ukrainian capital and its surrounding districts, leaving behind structural damage and casualties. Ukraine’s emergency services reported that the bombardment ignited a fire at a production and storage facility in the region outside Kyiv, where emergency crews subsequently extinguished the blaze.
Three deaths and six injuries were recorded in the capital’s broader area, while city officials reported one death and eight injuries. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that residential and civilian structures suffered impacts, including a health center and a metro station. Damage spread across three urban neighborhoods.
Moscow Targets Logistics Centers, Hits Port Vessel
Moscow asserted that the overnight campaign used high-precision ground-launched weapons and armed drones to strike military-industrial infrastructure. The ministry stated that the operation also targeted the Fire Point logistical center, which it alleged was used for the production and storage of long-range drone components and engines for FB-5 Flamingo cruise missiles.
Further strikes hit the Khimvolokno industrial site, where the Russian military claimed components for medium and long-range drone warheads are manufactured. A locomotive depot in Kyiv was also struck, which the ministry alleged was used to store parts for FB-5 Flamingo cruise missiles and FB-9 ballistic missiles. Beyond the capital, the Russian military confirmed it targeted logistical centers in the Volyn region and the city of Khmelnitsky.
Naval and port infrastructure also absorbed significant strikes. A cargo vessel operating in the Black Sea at a distance of 130 kilometers southwest of the port of Odesa was struck under claims that it carried military shipments.
Air Defenses Engage in Large-Scale Interceptions
Air defense systems on both sides intercepted numerous drones and missiles throughout the night. Ukrainian air force command reported neutralizing 243 drones and 4 incoming missiles, while warning that aerial threats remained active across multiple regions. Explosions were also reported in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where sirens were activated as part of the wider alert.
Simultaneously, Russian defense authorities reported intercepting numerous incoming unmanned aircraft.
