Gold prices in Egypt moved within a narrow range during early October 2026 trading sessions, as steady local currency adjustments and shifting international bullion rates kept the market in a tight pattern. Local merchants and traders tracked fluctuating global ounce valuations alongside a domestic dollar exchange rate sitting above 52 pounds.
Precious metal markets in Cairo navigated a delicate balance between external pressure and domestic currency shifts as October trading opened according to market data reported across financial platforms. Rather than sharp directional moves, retail bullion and standard karats held a sideways trajectory for consecutive sessions, reflecting conflicting signals from overseas exchanges and local currency adjustments. Saeed Embaby, executive director of the “iSagha” platform, stated that the early October price rise in the Egyptian market does not necessarily signal an end to the pressures facing the precious metal globally. Embaby explained that the appreciation of the U.S. dollar against the Egyptian pound helped support local gold prices despite the limited upward movement of the global ounce, and he emphasized that determining market direction requires tracking price movements across multiple sessions while separating actual price movement from actual demand volume.
Karats and Gold Pound Pricing Across Egyptian Markets
Local rates for primary karats showed modest adjustments through the opening days of the month, before settling into a narrower band. Retail prices quoted across commercial exchanges without manufacturing fees reflected varying baseline valuations reported by industry monitors. Standard 21-karat gold, which commands the largest share of local trading volume among consumers and savers, moved near the 6,130 to 6,150 Egyptian pound range per gram. Additional market updates recorded 21-karat trading at 6,145 pounds with a 20-pound increase, or quoting 6,155 pounds for sale versus 6,105 pounds for purchase. Meanwhile, 24-karat bullion traded near 7,005 to 7,035 pounds per gram, with specific platform figures noting 7,023, 7,028, and 7,029 pounds. Lighter choices like 18-karat jewelry hovered around 5,254 to 5,275 pounds, alongside specific reports of 5,267 and 5,271 pounds, while 14-karat gold reached 4,100 to 4,105 pounds and 22-karat recorded 6,441 pounds.
Retail analysts noted that final consumer prices varied at individual shops once merchant manufacturing fees, hallmark stamps, and applicable taxes were added to the raw metal baseline. Nady Nagib, general secretary of the Gold Division, noted during evening sessions that prices remained stable at mid-session levels, where 14-karat stood at 4,086 pounds per gram, 18-karat reached 5,254 pounds, 21-karat recorded 6,130 pounds, 24-karat settled at 7,005 pounds, and a 10-gram gold bar reached 70,050 pounds while a 50-gram bar registered 350,250 pounds.
Strong Dollar and Bond Yields Pressure Gold Prices
International bullion markets exerted downward pressure on the precious metal, as global spot prices faced headwinds from a strengthening U.S. dollar and elevated Treasury bond yields. International spot gold traded near 4,180 dollars per ounce, while December U.S. gold futures registered mild gains around 4,218 dollars, alongside spot quotes shifting between 4,146 and 4,196 dollars during broader weekly sessions. Despite the softer international backdrop, the domestic Egyptian market found internal support as the exchange rate for the U.S. dollar climbed above the 52-pound threshold, rising by roughly 0.41 pounds since the beginning of the week. That domestic currency shift cushioned local buyers and sellers from the full brunt of global corrections.
