Xbox Insiders can now earn retroactively applied Mythic Achievements spanning console history including Xbox 360 releases, following an official introduction by Xbox for players who complete every original achievement in a game.
Microsoft is bringing a completionist crown to its ecosystem after decades of community requests. The newly unveiled Mythic Achievements reward players who obtain every single regular Xbox Achievement in a given title, mirroring the platinum-tier recognition long established on rival platforms.
Microsoft Adds Platinum-Tier Recognition to Xbox Ecosystem
The rules governing the new status are designed to keep the focus squarely on base content. As the Xbox team explained in its official announcement, achievements added later through downloadable content or post-launch updates are not required to unlock Mythic status. Once earned, the distinction remains permanently attached to the player’s profile.
“Mythic Achievements have already been added to eligible games you completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles,” says the Xbox team. “The next time you visit your profile, you may discover that some of your favorite games have already reached Mythic status.”

Long-time completionists may find that their past efforts are immediately recognized upon logging in because the rollout reaches back to the origins of the achievements system on November 22, 2005. By contrast, Sony users didn’t get their PlayStation Trophies until PS3 firmware 2.40, which launched on July 2, 2008.

Microsoft Overhauls Achievement Display Across Platform
Microsoft has overhauled how achievement data is displayed across the platform to help players track their completed catalogs. Player profiles now feature a dedicated Gaming tab that aggregates achievement histories, tracks progress toward upcoming Gamerscore milestone badges, and displays completed games. Mythic entries are visually distinguished within this list by a unique heroic frame.
Players can also visit friends’ Gaming tabs to compare collections, view mastered titles, and inspect how acquaintances have progressed. For titles that have not yet reached completion, a new progress bar at the top of each game’s achievement list displays remaining requirements, backed by an option to focus strictly on the original unlocks still needed.
Xbox Insiders Test Feature After Leak on PC App
The feature made its public debut following an earlier leak on the Xbox PC app. While the system is currently available to Xbox Insiders for testing and feedback, Microsoft has not yet specified an exact date for the general public release. Participants can access the preview by downloading the Xbox Insider Hub for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, or PC, and share feedback through the Xbox Insider subreddit or official voice portals.
